You have to appreciate what this player has done and I don’t want to minimize that, but I have my doubts if he’s the long term answer on a championship contending team. Good athlete who has a knack for avoiding the sack/rush. He makes himself small and he’s strong so arm tackles aren’t enough to bring him down. This allows him to extend plays. He knows this offense well and throws the short pass accurately and anticipates windows pretty well on the intermediate level. He does this out of necessity because he doesn’t have a strong arm and his arm swing is longish. I don’t believe in the arm talent enough to see him as a long term starting QB in this league. I know this is a controversial take and don’t want to minimize what he has done but the differences in arm talent vs Jordan Love in the Divisional game were obvious. I think it was a big gamble for SF rolling with him as their starter but maybe it will work out.
