Below average DT (6’1 305lbs). Explosive first step, that pops as soon as you see him play. Will leave some interior linemen in the dust. Plays with good hand usage and finesse pass moves swimming and ripping. Consistently found his way to the QB. For a smaller DT Murphy has impressive strength and will hold the point of attack on run plays. Plays with good leverage and pad height. Murphy at this point is more of a finesse rusher and rarely plays with power. If he doesn’t beat his man with speed he’s ineffective. For strength he possesses you would like to see him utilize a bull rush more. Being a smaller DT he’ll get swallowed up by blockers and will have a hard time shedding blocks. Too many plays you see him not playing with a motor. Seems disinterested on run plays sometimes. All that said he’s a future 8-10 sack player from the interior. Johnathan Hargrave comp.
