Below Average size(6’2 238lbs). 4th year senior with excellent athleticism. Slender frame but is stout against the run and is hard to move off his spot. Uses his hands well to hold off defenders and disengage to make the tackle. Smith has an explosive first step and knows how to use his speed. Smith is a well coached player. Displays exceptional discipline maintaining gap integrity. Smith at this point is a one dimensional pass rusher. If Smith doesn’t beat his opponent with a speed rush he has no countering moves. Even though he is stout against smith can be overwhelmed by bigger lineman. Smith also doesn’t seem comfortable dropping into coverage yet. Overall Nolan is a 2nd round talent at this point but his raw athleticism is intriguing. If he lands with the right staff that can develop his pass rushing, Smith will be consistent Pro Bowl player.
