In the running for the No. 1 player of all-time, 'Mr. Hockey' was the most prolific player in his era - and debatably the most complete player ever to take the ice. He ranked among the top ten in League scoring for twenty-one consecutive years and the only player in League history to have competed in five different decades - 1946 to 1980. He won 6 scoring championships and was named MVP six times with the Detroit Redwings. He was a scrapper - donned the name "Mr. Elbows" from opponents, yet was an immense shooter as well. His overall numbers, in both NHL and WHA (including playoffs): 2,421 games, 1,071 goals, 1,518 assists, 2,589 points and 2,418 penalty minutes. Until Gretzky, he held the NHL record of 801 goals in the regular season and 1,850 points. Solid player - easy A+.
